Spurs visit Turf Moor to take on relegation-threatened Burnley on Wednesday evening.

Both sides will be full of confidence coming into the clash after registering away victories on the weekend. Antonio Conte's Spurs side helped re-open the title race with a superb 2-3 victory against Manchester City on Saturday evening. Whilst Sean Dyche's Burnley hit three goals without reply against a solid Brighton and Hove Albion.

Dyche will be delighted to see his team comfortably beat an opponent. Their win on the South Coast was the first time they had netted more than one goal in a Premier League game since a 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace on the 20th of November 2021.

Harry Kane's heroic performance at the Etihad ensured that Spurs did not slip to a fourth straight Premier League defeat. Conte will be hoping to build a run in order to quietly keep his side in the race for a Champions League place.

  • Team News

In Tuesday's press conference with Alasdair Gold of Football.London, Conte confirmed both Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga remain absent.

"They’re recovering but they are still not ready for the game against Burnley."

The Italian also mentioned a problem for wing-back Sergio Reguilon.

"At yesterday’s training session, he wasn’t present but we’ll see today. I think the situation is the same as the last game but we hope Skipp, Tanganga, Sergio recover very soon because we need all of them."

Attacking duo Wout Weghorst and Maxwell Cornet should be available for the home side after both picked up minor knocks against Brighton.

Dyche also provided an update on left-back Charlie Taylor (foot) who is unlikely to be risked against Spurs but should be ready for action on the weekend (LancsLive).

James Tarkowski and Ashley Westwood both missed the Brighton win with cases of Covid-19.

Dyche said: "The other two (Tarkowski and Westwood) we will wait on [some] news because with the current protocol they still have to test clear so we will wait and find that out tomorrow."

  • Predicted Lineups

Burnley:

Pope; Collins, Roberts, Mee, Pieters, Cork, Brownhill, McNeil, Lennon, Cornet, Weghorst.

Tottenham:

Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies, Royal, Sessegnon, Winks, Bentancur, Son, Kulusevski, Kane.

  • Ones to watch

There is no doubt who the main man is for the Clarets now. 6 ft 6in striker Weghorst has already made life extremely difficult for a number of Premier League defenders.

The Dutchman likes to impose himself with his towering frame, but his impressive range of finishing makes him an all-around danger. Spurs could look to utilise the aggression and aerial prowess of Cristian Romero to counteract Weghorst's presence or it may be a very long night for the Lilywhites.

After the inspiring win at City, a number of Spurs players deserve recognition. Eric Dier's return to action was practically faultless, Rodrigo Bentancur's grace and bravery on the ball was influential throughout, and Kane's masterclass deserved all the plaudits it got.

However, a performance that may have slightly gone under the radar is that of Dejan Kulusevski. The Swede looked assured every time he got the ball. His space intelligence, clever ball-carrying and pass accuracy will have excited many of the Spurs faithful.

Spurs' new number 21 will be fancying his chances of adding to his one goal and one assist on Wednesday night.

  • Head to head

Spurs have won their last three in all competitions against Burnley with a combined aggregate score of 6-0.

This fixture last season saw Heung-Min Son head Spurs to a 1-0 victory, with Kane naturally providing the assist. Conte spoke of the responsibility he places on Spurs' attacking duo and the belief that he has in their abilities (Football.London).

One thing for certain is that Burnley will not make it easy for Spurs to continue this winning head-to-head run. With weather conditions set to be windy and rainy in East Lancashire tomorrow evening, Dyche's men will fancy themselves to cause an upset.

  • Prediction

Burnley 1 - 2 Tottenham Hotspur.
