After a short stay in the 1977-78 season, it looks like Würzburger Kickers will finally end their long spell away from the 2. Bundesliga.
They lead 2-0 against MSV Duisburg following a superb showing in the first-leg, but the question remains; can they do it away from home?
A 13-game unbeaten record and their current advantage would say so, but the play-offs are anything but straight-forward.
Kickers canter to first-leg lead
It all seemed a little too easy for the 3. Liga side on Friday evening, as Duisburg failed to test Robert Wulnikowski in the home goal.
Richard Weil's penalty had seemingly knocked the Zebras for six but some spirited play in the wide areas saw them try to find a way back into the match.
That was all rendered as null and void, however, when Daniel Nagy popped up to turn home Nejmeddin Daghfous' cross late on.
Bernd Hollerbach couldn't have hoped for a better platform to build from, in a game which they controlled from start to finish.
Who can make the difference for Duisburg?
Giorgi Chanturia was Duisburg's only player that offered much of a threat moving forward, with the Georgian's dribbling skills proving to be a constant worry.
However, he'll need much more support from those around him if the Zebras are to dig themselves out of their current mess.
Kevin Wolze offered some spark on the left, though it was too sporadic. Ilia Gruev has his work cut out if he is to get them into scoring form ahead of the game.
They will have to find a way to break past the seemingly impenetrable partnership that was Clemens Schoppenhauer and Royal-Dominique Fennell.
Both centre-backs did remarkably well with anything on the ground or in the air, and a similar performance will see the Kickers keep another shut-out and earn promotion.
Team news
Unfortunately for the Zebras, Michael Ratajczak will not be fit to play and Marcel Lenz retains his place in goal. Their starting stopper is still suffering with an ankle problem.
Martin Dausch, Pierre De Wit and Andreas Weigel are all unavailable, but Victor Obinna is fit again and should partner fellow Nigerian, Kingsley Onuegbu up front.
Branimir Bajic is suspended after picking up his 10th yellow card in the first leg. Steffen Bohl should move inside, allowing Rolf Feltscher to take his place at right-back.
Würzburg will be without goalscorer Nagy for the return game, as he picked up a booking just before grabbing a vital second goal.
Apart from his absence, they are at full strength. Nagy came off the bench to find the back of the net, meaning Hollerbach should name an unchanged eleven.
