Norwich City have picked up a second consecutive victory following a 2-0 win over Millwall at Carrow Road.

Josh Sargent put the Canaries in front with a strike from 18 yards out and doubled the hosts' lead with 15 minutes to play as he scored again from inside the box.

The victory sends Norwich up to fifth place in the EFL Championship table while the Lions, who began the day fourth, drops three places to seventh.

Story of the match

Millwall manager Gary Rowett made three changes to the side as Ryan Leonard and Shaun Hutchinson replaced Jake Cooper and Charlie Cresswell in defence while George Saville came in for Jamie Shackelton in the midfield.

Norwich had the first chances of the game on seven minutes as Daniel Sinani set up Kieran Dowell, but this shot in the box was wide of the right post.

From a corner kick, Onel Hernandez failed to trouble the Millwall goal and Sinani fed Liam Gibbs, but his shot was deflected on contact and gathered in by Bialkowski.

The visitors then saw a deflected cross by Tyler Burey bounce straight into the arms of Tim Krul and at the other end, the lively Sinani set up Sargent, who won a free kick that Marcelino Nunez hit the wall.

In the 23rd minute, Tyler Burley whipped in a cross that was met by George Honeyman, but the defender could only head over the crossbar.

The Lions continued to create opportunities and shortly before the half-hour mark, Murray Wallace sent in a cross that Benik Afobe flicked just over the bar.

Both sides looked dangerous as Nunez sliced wide from the edge of the area and after Burey laid the ball back for Scott Malone, his cross was collected by Krul.

Sinani and Nunez each had chances in stoppage time, but both went high and wide to cap off a lively first half.

Five minutes into the second half, the Canaries opened the scoring. Sargent played a one-two with Sinani before beating Bialkowski inside the penalty area.

Pressing on to widen their advantage, Nunez took a free-kick was just wide after Sargent drew a foul on the edge of the area.

He nearly doubled his and Norwich's tally, chasing down a kick from Bialkowski, but the Polish netminder was able to get back and put the ball out wide.

Rowett then made a triple substitution, bringing on Shackelton, Andreas Voglsammer and Zian Flemming for Billy Mitchell, Burey and Honeyman.

Three minutes after the changes, Mitchell found Hutchinson, but he could only glance his header well wide of the far post.

Sargent at the double

The points were made safe on 75 minutes as Dowell laid off the ball on the edge of the area to Sargent, who beat Bialkowski into the bottom corner.

Wallace then nodded down a Malone corner, but Afobe stuck out a leg and accidentally turned the ball over. Voglsammer forced Krul to tip on to the bar and Afobe's overhead kick went over.

Sargent was taken off with five minutes to play for Teemu Pukki, but by then the outcome was already decided.
