USA looking to close it out
90'+9 Wright has a go when taking the ball into the corner would have been the better play.
VAR review
90'+7 Carter-Vickers is adjudged not to have hauled down Taremi. Play on.
Iran booked
90'+6 Jalali is booked as he pulls down Musah, who was on the break. Cameron-Vickers takes a long time with the free kick.
Iran go close
90'+3 Iran wins a free-kick to the left of the area. It’s a good ball and Pouraliganji’s diving header whisks just wide of Turner’s near post.
Iran patient play
90+2' Zimmerman heads clear after patient Iran build-up play.
Corner comes to nothing
89' Iran's first corner of the match is nothing of note.
Stoppage time amount revealed
88' There will be nine extra minutes.
Poor Iran build-up play
87' A through ball is poor at best and it goes directly to USA goalkeeper Matt Turner. The Stars and Stripes have a chance at the other end, but it's scrambled clear.
Iran penalty shout waved away
83' Iran asking for a penalty as the ball rolls up Moore's arm, but it was nowhere near.

USA substuition
66' Kellyn Acosta comes on for Weston McKennie.
Wasteful Iran
66' Ghoddos lets a second good chance go begging, curling this one past the far post.
Iran seeing more of the ball
62' Rezaeian given plenty of time to pick someone out on the right but Ream does well to clear.
Iran's best spell
59' Taremi is only just offsides. Iran know they must be more attacking now.
US does a bit of defending
55' The excellent Sargent releases Dest, who stumbles into Iranian defenders. US is caught a bit at the back and Carter-Vickers gets Taremi away as he was running into the box.
Iran with a rare chance
52' Substitute Saman Ghoddos heads over Iran's best chance.
Three Lions pulling away
Phil Foden doubles the England lead and shows why so many wanted manager Gareth Southgate to bring him on against USA.
USA continues to attack
49' The lively Sargent cuts in and sees his shot blocked by Beiranvand.
England lead against Wales
Marcus Rashford has given the Three Lions a 50th-minute lead with a well-taken free kick.
As it stands, Wales are eliminated, but if they were to mount a comeback and win, USA top the group with England second.
USA substitution
46' Pulisic is indeed off. More information to come on his exact injury. Brendan Aaronson comes on in his place.
Halftime
HT That concludes a dominant first 45 for the Stars and Stripes. Weah had the ball in the back of the net, but it was called back for offsides.
Berhalter's men are currently going through, but plenty of work to be done.
We will back soon with the second half.
Latest chance comes to nothing
45'+4 Dest has had it all his own way so far but overhits his pass to Weah. Goal-kick to Iran.
Iran substitution
45'+2 Mohammadi is coming off injured. Karimi replaces him.
More good work by the US
45' Adams makes a delicious pass to Sargent, who taps it to Weah, who tries a return pass that Iran intercept. Five minutes of stoppage time to be played.
Pulisic back on
44' He's back on, but he'll need to be re-evaluated at halftime. If he is concussed, then he should be off immediately.
US trying to get to halftime
43' Sargent sends a ball across the face of goal. Still down a man, Adams concedes a tactical foul and is booked. Iran break on the counter.
Pulisic up, but still wobbly
41' The Chelsea star is up, but still being treated. US playing with 10 men for now.
Pulisic scores!
38' GOAL! Dest nods into the area and Pulisic taps home. Beiranvand comes out to clear and his knee crashes into Pulisic's head.
A huge goal in US soccer history, but he is still being treated.
More US chances
31' Dest dallies on the edge of the area, but falls as he shoots. Ream then gives away a throw-in close to his own goal.
Meanwhile, Berhalter is complaining to the officials that Iran are time-wasting.
Beiranvand saves
29' Josh Sargent spins to shoot, it deflects off a leg of an Iran defender. The ball lands on the head of Weah eight yards out, but it lacks power and Beiranvand comfortably saves.
Pulisic struggling
26' It hasn't been the same electric performance from the USA star man as it was against England and his corner is nowhere near.
Wales and England goalless
23' The Dragons need a draw here and a victory over the Three Lions to progress to the last 16.
Opportunity for Iran!
21' Taremi and Azmoun are loose in the USA area. Taremi knocks it to his talisman, but Tim Ream makes a vital interception.
Deja vu?
19' Plenty of neat build-up play as in the first two matches, but so far, no one on hand to apply the finishing touch for the Americans.
Stars and Stripes come close
16' Robinson has been the best US player so far and his cross is just beyond the reach of Tim Weah, who has the only goal of the tournament for Berhalter's side.
Sergino Dest then drives in a cross that Alireza Beiranvand punches away. The Stars and Stripes best chances are coming when play is started out wide.
USA keeping up the pressure
13' Robinson has found space down the left with Carter-Vickers in support, as well. Pulisic gives the ball away, but Iran do very little with it, knocking it about.
Adams working at both ends
9' Tyler Adams meant for that to be a shot, but it winds up being a decent cross-field pass to Antonee Robinson. The cross is dealt with, but the captain scampers back to shut down an Iran counterattack.
Musah has the clearest chance of either side so far, but lashes over from just outside the area.
US on top of the play so far
6' Yunus Musah, on his 20th birthday, wins a throw after good work down the right, but Iran clear. USA have had the better of it, but the Middle Easterners have a good passage of play after shaky defending.
Iran throw comes to nothing
3' A set-piece from 40 yards out is dealt with and USA attack with Christian Pulisic taken down by Hossein Hosseini as he tried to get into the penalty area.

Iran vs USA prediction
Iran showed great fighting spirit to stun Wales after going up a man in the closinmg stages of the match, scoring twice and are a compact, solid defensive squad.
However, based on the display put forth by USA against a far superior England side, where the Stars and Stripes ran the game from the midfield, were industrious in attack and used their high press to great effect, they have a big advantage in this one.
Expect drama and tension, but USA should win.
Prediction: Iran 1-2 USA

Two years later at the Rose Bowl, a friendly match saw Mahdavikia and Chris Armas exchange goals in a 1-1 draw.
Key player of Iran: Ramin Rezaeian
Did an excellent job to shut down Wales' threat on the left and sent in some fine crosses. Capped his display with Iran's second goal.

The striker had a magnificent game against England, hitting the crossbar and being at the heart of all of the positive play that the Americans had.
