Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor has revealed that the club's transfer business is not yet done.

Following City's 2-0 opening day victory over Aston Villa, the new manager was quizzed by the media on future transfer plans. While he confirmed that the club were in the market for new recruits, nothing is done yet:

"There's nothing to report yet. When there is, I'm sure you will be the first ones to know. All I can say is we would like to improve the squad."

Who could arrive?

Manchester City are known to be ambitious in the transfer market, often flaunting their cash, and one possible recruit could be Lucy Bronze.

The right-back has confirmed that she will leave Lyon following their latest UEFA Women's Champions League win over Wolfsburg and Manchester is believed to be her most likely destination.

The England international was nominated for the Ballon d'Or in 2019, eventually losing out to American Megan Rapinoe, but she has a worldwide set of admirers.

Bronze began her career at Sunderland in the late 2000s and saw a rapid ascent through the leagues to find her way to Manchester City in 2014. She departed for Lyon in 2017, but recent reports from the Telegraph link her with a return to her former club.

During her first spell in Manchester, Bronze helped them win the Women's Super LeagueConti Cup and FA Cup treble in 201. Individually, she was named Player of the Year twice, made one WSL Team of the Year and one Women's Champions League squad of the season. She was also nominated for European and World Player of the Year by UEFA and FIFA respectively.

Instant impact

One player that City have already brought in is American international Sam Mewis.

She was given a full 90 minutes against Villa and Taylor was impressed with her contribution as the game wore on:

"She got off to a slow start, but she really grew into the game in the second half."

Mewis wasn't joined by her close friend and international colleague Rose Lavelle at Villa Park, but she had a flurry of chances to score and proved to be a nuisance to Villa's backline. However, her two best efforts in the second half were deflected over and went just wide.
