Rodrigo Bentancur netted in stoppage time to complete a dramatic turnaround for Tottenham solidifying their Champions League spot, whilst Bournemouth fell to a third consecutive defeat.

Gary O'Neil's side were looking to bounce back from a frustrating defeat at West Ham, and started well, with Keiffer Moore netting the opener in the first half.

The Welshman then fired in a second five minutes after the break with a thumping header before Spurs would begin their fightback.

Ryan Sessegnon fired in before Ben Davies levelled the score in a fifteen-minute response to the hosts before Bentancur smashed home in stoppage time to complete the comeback.

The result sees Bournemouth stay fourteenth whilst Spurs sit third behind contenders Manchester City and Arsenal.

  • Story of the match

Both sides came into the fixture looking to bounce back from consecutive league defeats, but it was the hosts who started the brighter of the two.

Antonio Conte's side struggled to find any real rhythm early on struggling to create clear-cut chances whilst Bournemouth opted for a five-man defensive setup.

The breakthrough came on the 22-minute mark where the South-coast club took a shock lead when Marcus Tavernier picked out Kieffer Moore in the box who swept home in clinical fashion.

It was a first goal involvement for the former Middlesborough man since joining in the club in the Summer.

In response, the Lilywhites struggled to create any clear-cut opportunities to threaten Mark Travers making a return to the starting lineup.

It was not until the 35th minute that Tottenham posed their first real threat to the Bournemouth goal when Heung-Min Son's wicked cross from the right was glanced onto the post by Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi.

As expected, the dynamic duo of Harry Kane and Son continued to be the biggest threat in creativity for Conte's side, and the South Korean went close before the break when his curled effort from outside the box was palmed away by Travers.

Bournemouth's second half got off to the best possible start in the 50th minute when Moore added his second of the game.

Captain, Adam Smith, found space on the right before his precise cross met Moore with a bullet header - a third league goal of the season for the Welsh International.

A second goal led to the Cherries settling into a more defensive approach with their compact 5-4-1 only for Pierre-Emile Hojberg to pick out Sessegnon in behind the defence to drill home past Travers making it 2-1 on 57 minutes.

Conte then made multiple substitutions including the deployment of Bentancur in the midfield in place of Yves Bissouma.

O'Neil's side would go on to face an offensive onslaught from Spurs in search of an equaliser.

Kane went close again when Sessegnon's cross found the England star in the box, but he was unable to divert his header on target.

Then in the 72nd minute, Spurs got their reward when an Ivan Perisic corner found Ben Davies at the back post to head past a flailing Travers.

Once again, Bournemouth's weakness at set pieces was highlighted by poor defensive marking and erratic goalkeeping on this occasion.

As was the narrative of the second half, the North-London side continued to pile on the pressure looking to secure an incredible turnaround and take all three points on the South Coast.

Son tested Travers again after some brilliant build-up play finished with Eric Dier picking out Son in the penalty area who forced the Republic of Ireland international into a strong save at the near post.

As has been the problem for Bournemouth this season, a late corner was whipped in by Son with the ball eventually falling to Bentancur to smash home the winner through a crowd of players.

In the end, it was a deserved result for Tottenham who dominated the game and can take some pressure off of Conte with his side showing resilience in the face of adversity.

Bournemouth were unlucky to concede late on but their vulnerability at set-pieces was once again highlighted in this game highlighting an area O'Neill will need to improve to ensure they don't fall into the relegation fight.

Despite only playing 40 minutes coming into the game as a substitute, the Uruguayan was influential on the game especially when Spurs were looking to build following Sessegnon's goal.

The midfielder was direct in his play and solidified the midfield alongside Hojbjerg.

Bentancur's match-winning strike guaranteed all three points on the road which can give the side confidence going forward.
