Norwich started the season in fine form after relegation back to the second tier, but have been unable to maintain their momentum and are in the midst of a slump that has seen them pick up just two points in October.

Dean Smith's side travelled to Burnley in midweek and slipped to a late 1-0 defeat, with both teams expected to be near the top come the end of the season.

The Canaries sit seventh in the Championship table with 25 points.

Stoke City are again showing the inconsistencies of previous seasons, with two big wins against Sheffield United and Preston followed up by recent home defeats to Rotherham and Coventry.

The Potters are better away than at home, so will be hoping for three points on the road to stop their own rot against their faltering hosts.

Alex Neil's men are 17th in the table with 19 points.

Dimitris Giannoulis sat out of Tuesday's loss to Burnley with a cracked rib and will not return in time to take on Stoke.

Sam Byram, Max Aarons and Ben Gibson are all fit despite recent knocks.

Kenny McLean is suspended after picking up a three-game ban last week.

Stoke

Josh Tymon (ankle) and Gavin Kilkenny (groin) are both set to remain sidelined.

Harry Souttar has stepped up his recovery from a long-term ACL injury, playing a part in three City u21 games in the last week.

Neil is unlikely to thrust him back into first-team action yet, with next weekend likely pencilled in as the Australian's return to the matchday squad.

  • Likely lineups

Norwich

Gunn (GK); Aarons, Hanley, Tomkinson, McCallum; Ramsey, Hayden, Nunez; Sargent, Pukki, Cantwell.

Stoke

Bursik (GK); Sterling, Wilmot, Jagielka, Fox; Laurent, Baker; Brown, Powell, Fosu; Gayle.

  • Ones to watch

Teemu Pukki

Pukki is an icon of the second tier with 61 goals in 100 Championship appearances for the Canaries, including two promotions and a Championship Player of the Year award in 2018/19. His form in the Premier League has not been as prolific despite hitting double figures in both seasons in the top tier.

The Finland international has netted six times so far this season, and added three assists. With the in-form Josh Sargent possibly sidelined this weekend, Dean Smith will look to Pukki to fire his team to a much-needed victory. He has five goals in four previous appearances against the Potters.

Lewis Baker

27-year-old Baker is one of City's most important players, after arriving on a free from Chelsea in January of this year. A combative midfielder, he scored eight goals in the second half of last season for the Potters as he made an instant impact at his new permanent home.

His great form saw him named club captain this summer, and he has again been vital this season with four goals and four assists after not missing a minute of league action so far.
