The 2013/2014 season, saw Yeovil Town make club history when they reached the second tier of English football for the first time in the clubs history.

In what turned out to be a tough season for the club, they finished bottom of the table and were relegated. However, Yeovil only finished seven points off safety, which in itself was a major shock compared to where journalists and pundits originally predicted.

In 46 league games, Yeovil managed eight league wins. This included big wins against Watford, Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest. The majority defeats were close games except for the odd heavy defeats against Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough and Barnsley

Their final match of their season saw the club host Middlesbrough at Huish Park, but what has happened to the starting eleven from that game, since the 4-1 defeat, and where are they now?

  • Starting Eleven

Goalkeeper: Marek Stech

The one-time Czech Republic international goalkeeper joined the club from West Ham United in 2012. In his debut campaign in League One, he kept 19 clean sheets in 56 appearances, including a man of the match performance in the play-off final but injuries limited his second season with the club.

After turning down a new contract, Stech returned to his native country, signing for Sparta Prague, where he spent three seasons as a back-up goalkeeper.

In 2017, he returned to England, signing a two-year deal with then League Two side Luton Town, where he helped them the club gain back-to-back promotions to the second tier.

He then left the club in 2020 to join Mansfield Town but was released in the summer and is currently a free agent.

Right-Back: Luke Ayling

Ayling began his career with Arsenal, before making a 2010 loan move to Yeovil, which was made permanent following the conclusion of the season.

The 31-year-old spent four years at Huish Park, making over 160 appearances for the club, and became a firm fans favourite in the process.

However, following relegation, Ayling turned down a new deal and subsequently joined Bristol City on a free transfer. He scored four goals in 88 games before joining Leeds United for a fee of £200,000.

He's become a fans favourite at Elland Road, making over 200 appearances for the club, and has played a crucial role in the Premier League return. He remains at the club today and has recently returned from a long-term injury.

Experienced centre-back Byron Webster spent two seasons at Huish Park, helping them achieve promotion, before playing an important role in trying to keep the club up. He made 98 appearances, scoring nine goals for the club.

Following relegation, he also turned down a new contract and signed for Championship side Millwall for free. He spent five years at The Den, making over 100 appearances, including a brief loan return to Yeovil in 2015.

In January 2019, Webster joined Scunthorpe United on a free transfer, making nine appearances before linking up with Carlisle United until 2020.

He now plays for National League side Bromley, playing a crucial role as the club look to achieve promotion to the football league.

Following his loan spell, he left Goodison Park and joined Championship side Blackburn Rovers for an initial fee of £400,000. He made 63 appearances for the club before being sold for a then, club-record fee to Brighton Hove Albion in 2016.

He has made over 150 appearances for the club, helping them achieve promotion and stability in the Premier League. He has also made 55 caps for the Republic Of Ireland and had a brief loan spell at Celtic.

In the summer, Duffy joined fellow Premier League side Fulham on a season-long-loan but has been limited to just three appearances so far this season.

However, just six months later, he returned to England and joined then League Two side Exeter City on a free transfer. He made over 40 appearances before retiring at the end of the 2015/16 season.

He joined Cheltenham Town in 2017, on a free transfer, scoring nine goals in 66 appearances before making a shock move to the clubs rivals Forest Green Rovers two years later.

One-year later, Edwards joined Colchester United for the 2015/16 season, making 42 appearances before he was released following their relegation to League Two. He linked up with Walsall upon his release, and spent three years, becoming the clubs standout player.

In 2019, Edwards joined Plymouth Argyle on a free transfer and has become one of the more popular figures at the club. He has made over 130 appearances as the club push for promotion to the Championship this season.

Upon his return to the club, Ralls was given a three-year contract with the Welsh side, before signing a further five-year deal in 2015. He celebrated his 100th appearance with a sublime strike against Wolves in a 3-1 victory.
